We had quite a successful training course on assisted reproduction techniques (ART) from September 18th to September 25th. During this week we experienced a good deal about laboratory work and did a lot of hands-on training. In addition, we extensively discussed various aspects of laboratory needs.
Thanks to your support it was possible to demonstrate the state of the art by using the most advanced instruments and techniques. Because of the loyal help of different institutes from the University of Göttingen, it was possible to work with gametes and tissue from different animal species. Thus we were able to use oocytes and spermatozoa from pigs, cattle, rabbits, mice and monkeys.
According to the participants of the course, the training was very helpful to all of them. They were able to receive a lot of new knowledge and skills. Especially the beginners in the course showed distinct differences between theory and hands-on practice. While their theoretical knowledge was profound, their practical performance was, in the beginning, very poor. But during the training session they improved remarkably.
What made this training course special were the most modern technical equipment as well as the work with real gametes. This, especially, was honored by the participants of the course. You will find the learning schedule under links.
Included in the training was a short symposium at the Hardeg castle which was carried out by Prof. Michelmann who gave two lectures on 'IMSI' and 'Extended Culture'. The day ended in a romantic candle-light dinner at the restaurant of the castle.
If you are interested to get photos of the whole workshop, please feel free to contact me. I will be pleased to hand them over to you on a CD. Furthermore, pictures of the workshop are published in the gallery of Dragon IVF.
Finally, I would like to thank all the supporting companies for their help in creating this workshop which was possible only because of a generous sponsorship. I fully appreciate this help and also hope that, in future, this cooperation will continue.
Yours sincerely,
